The Courier-Journal carried on the tradition of the showclock through the decades so that theaters did not have to print the times in their ads. Here you can see that each vaudeville show lasted approximately 80 minutes. One can imagine the programs were continuous.  People simply came and went all day, often being seated in the middle of movies and stayed for the next showing until they were caught up.
