Parade of 1956 Home Plans #1: Boston, MA

Living for Young Homemakers seems to be a fairly rare periodical.  I found this one on ebay some years ago. Inside this particular issue is a treasure trove of plans of (mostly) modern, small, affordable houses available from various builders all across the United States.  In the coming weeks, I'll post all the midcentury modern designs, starting with this California styled ranch designed by Tekton Associates.

The house was designed to be built with a basement with its larger than average windows unashamedly exposed at the front of the house and its staircase open to the entry floor.  Note the attractive courtyard.  How many millions of tract homes didn't allow for an elegant touch such as this?  Living room and dining is at the rear which could allow for an added patio.
